new stuff and wip

Well it’s been a while since I have posted anything, so I figured I better do something.  I have been working on a bunch of 15mm stuff but nothing done yet. And I am still working on my Quarworld

First up is my Caravan Master.  I started and finished him a while ago but never posted the final picture so here he is.  The Master himself (kind of inspired by the late artist Mobeus), along with the saddle and most of the baggage were made with bits of extra Quar, putty and metal rings.

He leads the caravan through the deserts of Kryst, smoking his hookah and riding atop a large beasty that started out as a Bantha from the Star Wars universe. I cut off the tusken raider atop and the horns, then removed the mouth. I added the saddle rig re sculpted the fur on the face and added the eyes and tusks to give it more of an elephant look.

Next, yet more caravan beasty’s on the horizon.  A pretty simple conversion so far, starting out with an inexpensive toy Rhinoceros with his horns and ears clipped off and a boney face plate and rounded horns, saddle and blanket roll added with putty. any suggestion on a color scheme?

The Faerf and Sothwyr armored vehicle are resin castings from Zomiesmiths’ Quar line.  The upper body of both casting were well detailed but the underside of both has major air bubbles that left large holes.  The Faerf  I filled in with putty and re scultped the saddle straps that were now gone.  The Sothwyr I think I will leave as is and paint it up as if it ran over a landmine(making lemonade out of lemons) I am going to try to do a desert pink (SAS, LRDP) style paint job on this and see how it comes out.

Almost finished with my armored car I built for the Quar adding a bit of baggage to the rear (some baggage, bread fuel and a barrel of water (?) or maybe something else.

Hunger games

Saw the Hunger games. Liked it a lot but still hard to transfer the book to film.
I Did not like some of the changes they made and the shaky camera techniques make most of the movie a blur, however if you read the books(which you should because they are amazing) you can follow the movie better if than you have not.
Jennifer Lawrence does a great job as Katniss Everdean one of the coolest kick ass, vulnerable character, but the movie is so fast paced that the biggest part of the story, the Relationships between Katniss and the others is really not as fleshed out as it needed to be.
The movie, although a violent plot line is really not that gory and in my opinion the lack of it makes the impact of the story seem less.
All that being said I still loved the movie and am a certified Hunger games Fanatic.

Back to my Quar

After sometime away I am back to my Quar.
I just finish my entry into the the Trash bash contest at http://roebeast.blogspot.com/ and now that, that is finished I have started back on my Quar, this time Trench raiders.
The 1st one finished had a new weapon added a wicked little truncheon and other than that was the standard figure. I placed them all on some nice trench bases and added some barbed wire. The Quar are just fun figures to paintbut I still have 100 more to go.
Long live the royalist cause!

Gift Quar

I painted this small scene for a Friend for Christmas, he had liked the lone daisy in the short Quar film so I incorporated it into this scene. "One last glance"
My Quar is about to go, with his men over the top. Taking time to have one last glance at his bride in a photo frame he prepares to blow the brass whistle in his other hand and then Over the top they go...who knows if they will return.
The scene itself is made from Coffee stirrers, pumice jell, and realistic water and duckboards from (Secret Weapons) trench kit. the daisy was modeled from green stuff and the whistle was carved out of the cigar he was holding. The whole Diorama fits into a dry snow globe which made it a nice little display.

and more

Three from Reaper
A Gladiator, Maxiums hero of the arena, and their new pit fighter figure with a head swap

And More...

The Noxi a Prisoner sentenced to the arena for some crime or another armed with a short sword and buckler. West wind gladiator figure.
Normally would not have stood much of a chance but his odd's have gone up slightly due to the fact that he is pitted against an Andabata Gladiator who fought blind. Bronze age gladiator figure with a head swaped and replaced with some putty sculpted into an Andabata helmet. The helmet has a few air holes at the bottom but nothing for the eyes...still he is skilled an armed better that the unarmored Noxi

Marco...polo... Who will be victor?
Two of the same Secutor gladiators from bronze age with head swaps with heads from the others in the set. The high plume was made from putty. I really like the set from bronze age miniature they are nicely sculpted and animated.

My last two are slaves on auction, one displaying herself for the buyers and the other in ragged cloths and chains waiting her turn. What will happen to them are they to be household slaves or be sent to train as galdiatrixes?
Both figures are Bronze age miniature generic female figures and sculpting putty

Apologies for the photos.
